Instant Meal Private Limited (IMPL)
The South-Asian region shares a number of similarities relating to culture, religion, language and ethnic diversity. Similarity is not just limited to these but also to wide spread poverty, hunger and malnutrition.
Nepal's unique geographical location and its remote mountainous terrains ensured the country remained at the far end of economic and social development ladder of South-Asian region. Malnutrition among children and rural folks remained a big worry.
Till the early 1990's the only credible effort to reduce rampant malnutrition was by UN agencies with imported fortified food stuffs that would take long time to come and even longer to reach the much needed rural population.
Thinking a way out and to do something for the people, in 1997 I established Instant Meal Pvt. Ltd., an exclusive industry devoted to producing low cost Fortified Blended Food. This unique product developed with the assistance of UN agencies became a bench mark in the effort to reduce malnutrition in the country.
To ensure the product was in no way inferior to the imported stuff, I ensured the best management and production systems were followed and Instant Meal became the first food industry in the country to be awarded with HACCP and ISO 22000:2005 standards.
Today, IMPL is walking hand-in-hand with all national and international, government and non-government organizations working closely towards freeing the society from malnutrition in the country. It gives me immense satisfaction, when I see that there is tremendous improvement in the malnutrition problem in the rural areas. But this is not enough; I feel it is time for all of us to do our bit from respective quarters to ease the sufferings of those who are in need.
